Get cash back where you are already shopping

You may or may not be feeling the pinch on your wallet with the economic effects of the pandemic. I wanted to share with you some ways you can score some cash back on the purchases you are already making.

First of all, no more cutting coupons. You can score some money back using an app called Ibotta. It started out with just groceries but has now expanded to a lot of retail places. I use this app a lot. You scan in your receipt for items listed under each store to qualify. Save on milk, cereal, produce and various products that change throughout the month. Get added bonus through changing promotions. Some stores make it easy to scan the QR code to redeem. You can also pay with this app to save as well, but I haven't explored that option yet. You’d be surprised you are using these retailers already.

Online shopping? Who doesn’t love that now? There are two sites I go to for cash back. I use these all of the time. I generally bounce back between the two to see who offers the higher percentage. It really does add up. One thing I do is shop at the retailer, add things to my cart, then I go to these cash back sites and click through their link -- my products are still in my cart. Then when I checkout I will later get an email tallying what cash back I will receive. Keep in mind these aren't instant cash. It takes a little bit for the purchases to clear -- the retailers don't pay until the return window has closed. But, it adds up and you will get a little bonus eventually. Some of these apps offer gift cards if you opt for those instead of cash back. Find these links below:

One more app I love is Slice (also by Rakuten). I love it because it keeps track of my purchases (by allowing them access to monitor purchases on my email address). It sends me notifications on my phone that something has shipped, something is out for delivery or when something is on my doorstep. It is actually quite accurate on the time – often it will pop up on my phone as I see the UPS man driving out of my driveway. One more bonus about this app is occasionally it will email me telling me an item I ordered had a price drop. Most retailers will honor the price change within 14 days after you order it. It has saved me money that way. But the best thing I like about it is I know when my package arrived.

I’d love to hear other apps you have discovered. Drop me a line in the comments.
