What to bring MORE of and LESS of when you stay at the Hyatt House

We recently had the chance to stay at the new Hyatt House in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Less than a year old, this pristine hotel was pretty impressive. Let me tell you why.

Marketed as an extended-stay hotel, the Hyatt House is an all-suite hotel and offers unique amenities tailored to the seasoned traveler. If you’ve traveled on business you know the negatives of being away from home for so long. This hotel seems to lessen that burden remarkably well.

I have compiled a list of what you’ll need to bring more of and less of when planning your stay here:

BRING MORE

APPETITE – This is what impressed me most about this place. “Complimentary Breakfast” will not be the same after staying here. The Hyatt House has raised the bar -- the breakfast bar for sure. Did you know you have your own chef making your omelet to your liking? You can request what you want in the omelet or try the omelet of the day. And as it delicious! I have never seen fruit and cottage cheese (one of my all-time favorites), and greek yogurt on a breakfast buffet before. You also have a choice of scrambled eggs, sausage, toasts, cereals and all the other usual breakfast items along with a gamut of juices, milks -- including Almond milk. You will certainly start your day with a full stomach – maybe not even needing a lunch.

GROCERIES – If you can’t stand the thought of walking through the doors of another restaurant or waiting in another drive-thru again, this place has you covered. Just less than a mile away is a decent grocery store. Stock up on anything you want and put it in your full-sized fridge in your suite. You also have a cooktop, microwave and dishwasher. Take advantage of the grill on the patio designed for guests to use so you can grill the steak of yours just like you do at home.

OFFICE WORK – Looking to do your work in a quiet place? There’s enough space in these suites to set up shop. Don’t tell your boss, but you can have as many as three televisions going at once like the suite we stayed in. Keep up on all the games in real time while trying to chip away at your quotas.

WORKOUT CLOTHES AND SWIMSUIT – Work out any time of the day with their 24-hour fitness center. It’s equipped with new exercise machines and free weights with plenty of floor space. You’ll be able to stay on your workout plan. There is an outdoor heated pool as well as a hot tub.

BRING LESS

LAUNDRY – Pack fewer clothes as you can wear them again after you launder them at the on-site laundry facilities. Don’t pack the soap – they have some to purchase here as well.

READING MATERIAL – You can catch up on sports, the news or movies with the large television sets in your room. There are plenty of channels to surf through as you recline on the couch or your bed – both offer a great, relaxing view.

NEWSPAPERS – The hotel will offer you the most recent copy of USA Today every morning. Read it while you eat your full breakfast or take it up to your room to read at your leisure.

This is the first corporate hotel to land in Pleasant Grove. A charming town, it’s set conveniently between Provo and Salt Lake City. It’s a little secret that it might just be the best place to stay when attending a BYU game or events near the Provo campus, as it’s less expensive than Provo hotels and one step closer to the Salt Lake airport. I am told the weekdays are a bit busier for this hotel as it’s only a few blocks from the DoTerra headquarters. The weekends are more relaxed as the guests are there for a leisurely stay. It’s a prime place to book for business as it is more removed from the busyness of towns nearby. Every room has a panoramic view of the valley that anyone will enjoy.

You’ll want to take a peek at the rates to stay at this hotel. You’ll be pretty surprised at how affordable it is. I will be back – it left such a great impression on me.
